Spring Ahead

Yikes! That mitten! The gauge is coming out tight, and it is hurting my hand to knit it. So, it is very slow going. I am also getting bored with the pattern now. Just 2 colors, repeating and repeating. My final mitten class is on Saturday and I will not be finished with the body of the mitten. Oh well. I think I can still pick up and learn to do the thumb.

So, I did finish some beautiful socks! They are the Embossed Leaves socks from "Favorite Socks" by Interweave. The pattern and the yarn mesh beautifully, which is not to be said for my current pair of socks that is pooling horribly (but that's for another post).

Latvian Mitten

This is the latest "knitting lesson" that I have taken. I have had 2 classes on this mitten, and colorwork is very addicting. You always want to see what the next color will do, how it will change the look of your work. I wasn't feeling the olive green in my mitten when I did the fringe and braid. I didn't think that it stood out against the black. However, as I continued up the mitten, I really found that I liked the green and black combo. The purple really pops against it! I have now added the white, and I am happy with it (thank god. I didn't want to rip all that fringe). So, I am slowly progressing. I have put it down for a few days in favor of big, chunky soft alpaca yarn.

Dad's Vest

I made a vest for my 81 year old golfing dad. I was nervous, because what if it didn't fit? You know how knits are. They fit sometimes, and sometimes even though you double check all of your measuring, they don't fit quite right. Luckily, this vest fits perfect! He wears it all the time I am told (by my mom). So it was a success. I am happy.

The Past Year

Last year I started a blog to chronicle my success (or failure) with knitting the rockin sock club shipments. I only updated once! I have made huge progress in my knitting this year. I made 6 patterns with beautiful yarn. I learned so much from the patterns, and mostly all on my own. Here are pictures of 2 of the finished socks!

Going to try this again

I really don't like to write, but I'm going to try. I want to chronicle my knitting journeys, and make regular updates. I have some nice knitting pictures!
