Latvian Mitten

This is the latest "knitting lesson" that I have taken. I have had 2 classes on this mitten, and colorwork is very addicting. You always want to see what the next color will do, how it will change the look of your work. I wasn't feeling the olive green in my mitten when I did the fringe and braid. I didn't think that it stood out against the black. However, as I continued up the mitten, I really found that I liked the green and black combo. The purple really pops against it! I have now added the white, and I am happy with it (thank god. I didn't want to rip all that fringe). So, I am slowly progressing. I have put it down for a few days in favor of big, chunky soft alpaca yarn.

Dad's Vest

I made a vest for my 81 year old golfing dad. I was nervous, because what if it didn't fit? You know how knits are. They fit sometimes, and sometimes even though you double check all of your measuring, they don't fit quite right. Luckily, this vest fits perfect! He wears it all the time I am told (by my mom). So it was a success. I am happy.
